== Indo-European Language Branches ==
The family consists of several major subfamilies:

* [[Anatolian Languages|Anatolian]], an extinct branch of languages spoken in/around <u>Anatolia</u>, in modern <u>Türkiye</u>. 
* [[Hellenic Languages|Hellenic]] (the <u>Ancient Greek</u> dialects), spoken around the <u>Aegean</u>, <u>Mediterranean</u>, and <u>Black Sea</u>.
* [[Italic languages|Italic]] (including <u>Latin</u>), spoken by the peoples of the <u>Italian peninsula</u>.
* [[Germanic Languages|Germanic]], initially spoken in <u>Northern Europe</u> and <u>Scandinavia</u>.
* [[Indo-Iranian Language|Indo-Iranian]], initially spoken around the <u>Iranian plateau</u> and then into <u>Central Asia</u> and <u>South Asia</u>.
* [[Balto-Slavic Languages|Balto-Slavic]], spoken across <u>Central Europe</u> and <u>Eastern Europe</u>.
* [[Celtic Languages|Celtic]], spoken across <u>France, Belgium</u>, <u>Ireland</u>, the <u>British Isles</u>, <u>Iberia</u>, and beyond. 

There are also a number of languages that are within the Indo-European family but do not necessarily belong to a distinct branch of subfamily:
