=== The Quest for the Golden Fleece === The Golden Fleece, located in the distant land of Colchis (modern-day Georgia), is guarded by a never-sleeping dragon. The fleece itself is a symbol of authority and kingship, which Jason must procure to prove his worthiness to rule. The journey to Colchis is fraught with challenges, including encounters with '''harpies''', the clashing rocks ('''Symplegades'''), and the '''Sirens''', testing the mettle of Jason and his crew. The Golden Fleece is the skin of a magical golden ram sent by the gods to rescue '''Phrixus''' and '''Helle''', the children of a Boeotian king, from being sacrificed. Phrixus survived the flight on the ram to Colchis (on the eastern edge of the Black Sea, in what is now Georgia), where he sacrificed the ram to the gods and presented its fleece to the king, '''Aeëtes'''. The fleece was then placed in a sacred grove, guarded by a never-sleeping dragon, making its retrieval a formidable task.
